This book is great at providing the tools needed to analyze a role, how to evaluate a script or libretto, and thoroughly develop a character by building on material in the score. The author works from the premise that an actors’ own feelings and natural physical instincts are the key to believability transforming a performer into a character. It also addresses the technical problems inherent in acting while singing. It also includes many very helpful and useful exercises.
